These are the responsibilities and expectations of the mentor: 

  1. I will establish a connection with my mentee(s) so that they feel welcomed to the university and provide motivation, guidance, support, and encouragement to foster their academic and personal development through a collaborative and empathetic approach. 
  2. I will provide my mentee(s) with resources both onsite and online that can help them throughout their program. 
  3. I will assist my mentee(s) in identifying and overcoming obstacles that may interfere with the accomplishment of their educational goals or direct them to who can help. 
  4. I understand I must have successfully completed NR226 and have a 2.5 CGPA to participate as a mentor. 
  5. I will adhere to the recommended milestones timeline to ensure that I am meeting the Student Peer Mentor Program expectations. 
  6. I will commit to any scheduled appointments with my mentee(s) and contact him/her should I need to cancel or reschedule in a timely manner. 
  7. I will communicate with the Student Peer Mentor Program Advisor should the mentee(s) be non- responsive to multiple outreach attempts. 
  8. I understand that if I am in violation of the student code of conduct, I may be removed from the Student Peer Mentor Program. 
  9. I understand that if the mentorship relationship is a mismatch or I can no longer commit to the Student Peer Mentor Program, I will reach out to the Student Peer Mentor Program Advisor for guidance.
